Years and years ago, the common practice was to allow the baby to sleep on their stomach and there was a good reason to this – babies tend to sleep better when they are on their tummies. Most of us have slept on our stomachs when we were babies. However, today, we have more information on the sleeping baby positions and we are focusing on the safe ways. When you put your baby to sleep on her/his side or back, then this can reduce your baby developing Sudden Infant Death by nearly fifty percent. Why put the baby to sleep on the stomach? You would be putting your baby at risk of Sudden Infant Death and this is one of the parent’s worse fears. Yes, it is really hard to keep your baby on the side, you could try putting her/him on the side with a rolled up blanket for support.
